First of all, if there's anything that warns a customer the silk isn't real, it's spelling "real silk" in any other way than "real silk." Remove one space, make it one word, and people instantly read "realsilk" as "fake."
Second, if you're advertising silk-selling on a matchbook,you're broadcasting the fact that it's not real far and wide.
At least it was a dignified business. Not like those friends who sold salve, and were always dropping hints about whether or not you had enough salve around, you know, just in case. Silk is different. People like it.
Wel, the real stuff, anyway. No one came back for another order after their blouses came in. Madge said she had a rash for four days, and Jane sold her some salve for it.
