I think they wrote the name in on the corner.
That’s one vaguely accurate card - "Dayton" store, and the "Raddison" Hotel. It was Dayton’s, and the Radisson, of course. But before it was Dayton’s it was Goodfellow’s; the store changed its name when Mr. Dayton bought out the other Fellows in 1903.
This location was up the street from the old retail corridor - but just as New York’s shopping district moved north over the decades, so did Minneapolis’ chic shops move away from the noisy industrial river towards the tony districts up the Nicollet.
They built this all at once. That would be the last time they did that, as you’ll see.
