Buck Jones joined the Army at the age of 16, worked as a cowboy, got a job as a stuntman, was promoted to backup for Tom Mix, got his own picture, then moseyed on to stardom and made over 160 pictures. Started his own company in 1928 to make “The Big Hop” - a break from westerns, but he always interested in flying.
Flop city. Back to Westerns. He had a good deep voice, so he made the transition to synch films easily, and had a few more years of fame before dying in the Coconut Grove fire - an infamous nightclub blaze that killed almost 500 people.
