This is the earliest shot I have. The building on the right was mauled and gutted and subjected to the usual indignities, but it survived into the 70s. The structure on the left was soon replaced by commercial buildings that still survive. Broadway was as wide as a river; people needed a pouch of pemmican to make the journey, and often spent the night in the small hut before continuing on the next morn.

Note: that sort of inaccurate historical assertion characterizes this entire site, so be careful if you're using this for a school paper.

Judging from the pile of ties in the lower right hand corner, it's possible they're still building the railway. It all seems curiously empty, like a city built in advance of its residents.
