This is a strange little strip that ran on the bottom of the comics pages in the Minneapolis Star-Journal; it was an in-house ad for a radio show that featured Uncle Ray, a fellow who read the comics to kids. It had a talking piano and a talking bird, among other things.
In 1947, the Star-Journal added a preprint color comic section to the Sunday papers; one of the comics was Will Eisner’s classic, The Spirit. This comic was the first Spirit promo in the Uncle Ray comic and it is without question he worst Spirit drawn by anyone, anywhere, at any time. |
