Americans simply do not broil bananas anymore, as a general rule. Nor do they partner them with fish. Nor do they call hamburgers a "hamburg patty." Lost as well is the knowledge that a broiled banana is "easily pierced with a fork," which must have been a comfort to people who tired of using a pneumatic drill to get through the skin of a dinner item. Dammit, wife, I don't ask for much, but if you could see your way to an easily-pierced dinner I'd be much obliged. |
