This is the sort of illustration invariably accompanied by the phrase “in the good old summertime.” All of the summertimes of yore were added together, and the median condition was adjudged as "good." There were also the "lazy hazy days of summer," but the Nat King Cole song did something unfortunate to the phrase: it added "crazy," which was at odds with lazy and hazy. Unless someone was driven mad by the heat and killed someone, and the details were later hazy. Where "lazy" fits into that, I don't know. Also, the song had aggressive banjo.
This happy couple live in a 'burb on the edge of some albino infinity bounded by a low wall, and some trees, and of course the nameless void that swallows time and space in its great indifferent maw. But they have a bitchin' lawnchair to make their situation better. |
