The elements of good design, contrary to this picture’s example, include having a good design. We cannot stress this enough: good design is an important element of good design. This is not that. This has a rug that looks like it’s based on a TV tuned to no particular channel, a sofa that looks like the hide of Peter Lawford, op art pillow-chairs on which no butt will ever rest, and gawdawful, brutal, crushingly unimaginative art placed where it can best overwhelm the only object of beauty in the room. The room lacks the courage of its own beliefs - if you’re going to go black & white, then DO it. Don’t ruin the effect with wood-colored wood.
