Mmmm: premade frozen tuna pie.
Pre-Charlie. Star-Kist was still using the fisherman with a giant ring in his ear, I presume. Charlie didn’t come along until the late 50s.
Or maybe it’s not Pre-Charlie. Star-Kist’s page says:
"1958. Star Kist hires Leo Burnett to develop a new campaign to "establish a quality image for StarKist tuna and distinguish it from its main competitor."
Burnett's approach focuses on the fundamental ideas that research has discovered:
Consumers want tuna that tastes good and they do not like tuna that tastes "fishy."
That might explain the tagline at the bottom: America’s Best in Flavor Tests.”
