It looks odd today, these boasts; nowadays matches would have ads for drops that ruined smoking for you, since you were bad and evil to do it. Fie! But back then the idea of enjoying your 40-a-day gasper habit wasn’t unusual. Why not sell cough drops on matchbooks? Makes perfect sense.
F&F – which I suspect reflects the names of the founders, unless the company was originally called Fast & Furious – is still around. And it’s about the most taciturn company I’ve seen – the history page, for example, contains no history. Not even a word about their most famous brand, Smith Brothers Cough Drops.
Have we learned anything today? Yes: they still make Sen-Sen. Why, we’ve no idea.
