I don't know much about the Islander; I can guess that it was part of the Tiki Movement, and perhaps was the epicenter of such in California. A web search turned up nothing but a photo credit from a Hawaiian music record album, but I'm sure there's much more info locked away at some tiki / lounge / exotique site I've not yet found.
