On the mythical Route 66, the Holbrook (in Holbrook, natch) was close to everything - the Painted Desert, the Petrified Forest, the Scared but Able to React Forest, the Studiously Indifferent Reaction to Peril Forest (a teen fave), the Grand Canyon and "Indian Country."

Best attribute: "Away from Railroad noise.” Again with the trains. Maybe there weren't any trains for hundreds of miles away, so it was accurate, but made you suspicious of the others. Could be tracks right by your window.
