Beautiful, I say. It may look Grandfatherly today, but it was the height of modernity when built. By the time this picture was taken, though, its style was already dated - like a late-50s office building would look today.
It's lighter than it appears, too - period postcards depict the buiding as almost white. It had suffered three decades of exhaust and dirt by the time this picture was taken - but you can still imagine how brilliant it must have appeared. |
