Ah, the Waikiki room! Famed throughout the upper Midwest. Well, around town, anyway. Okay, Minneapolis. The Waikiki was the Twin Cities’ Tiki palace, and was noted for the sweet barbeque sauce.
The sign below may be cool enough, but beneath it you see a grim view of the Nicollet in the 60s: all the retail was bricked up. The Lost-our-lease Sale of Amontillado.
